Starling develops its energetic efficiency

After winning the trophy* of  Ambition Negawatt in 2014, the Starling Hotel Geneva is proud to have received the Giga trophy * on April 24, 2018, at the SIG ceremony.  Ambition Negawatt is rewarding 5 companies that have reduced their annual electricity consumption over 1GWh.

* trophies awarded by the SIG at companies in Geneva that are engaged in a process of energy saving

This giga trophy rewards the efforts made since 2010 to reduce the electricity consumption of the hotel and to promote an environmental conscious politic based on rational and sustainable consumption of resources.

Optimization of our air conditioning, heating and ventilation by installing CO2 sensors and frequency inverters.

Improved lighting:

  • Installation of more than 3’800 Led bulbs to replace halogen lighting and fluorescent tubes.
  • Installation of twilight sensors to optimize lighting hours probes.

Change of materials in the kitchen and in the laundry by more performant and less energy consuming machines

Raising awareness amongst all of our 258 employees on eco-gestures of our everyday life: turn off electrical appliances such as computers and coffee machines or turn off the lighting of a room when it is empty are practices regularly advocated within the hotel.

Starling Hotel Geneva’s efforts will continue and wishes to obtain the High Energy Performance label by 2023.

This ambitious project, on the 35’000 m2 of in our buildings requires major renovation works to be done:

  • Replacement of 2’500 m2 of window with high insulating performance
  • Isolation of 2’000 m2 of roof
  • Production and use of renewable energy
  • Thermal insulation of ventilation ducts, heating pipes, air conditioning and hot water.

Obtaining this trophy “Ambition Negawatt Giga” highlights the philosophy pursued for many years by Starling Hotel Geneva:

The energy saved today allows the preservation of the environment for the future generations.
